Section 8 and NYCHA : Please make sure to answer all inquiries and mailings regarding your Section 8 subsidy/voucher, especially concerning recertification; it is vital to KEEPING your Section 8.  When returning your recertification documents, please be sure to make copies for your records and send by certified mail ON TIME, so that you have proof of completion and that the documents were mailed.  This is vital ti keeping your housing.

LIFT(Legal Information for Families Today): The Family Legal Center is open for free family law information and support on Monday-Friday, from 9:00 am- 5:00 pm at 350 Broadway, Room 501, New York, N.Y., between Franklin Leonard Sts.  They also hold a bi-monthly support group for grandparent caregivers.  Snacks and metro cards a provided.  The next support group date is March 28th @ 11:00 am.  LIFT also has information tables at the court house.

JOBS, TRAINING, & JOB Fair
Back on Track: A new initiative by District Attorney Charles J. Hynes that offers services for the family of at risk youth, and youth who have had contact with criminal justice system.  Services included parenting workshops, tutoring, GED classes, vocational assistance, ESL, access to medical, dental and mental health services as well as substance abuse treatment.  They are located at 2318 Atlantic Ave., E. Part and semi full time positions will soon be available at the Defense Commissary Agency.  Go to www.usajobs.gov and type Eastern Store Associate into the left hand box.  You will see vacancy announcements from which you can apply on-line.  You will need to submit a resume and transcripts and complete an Assessment Questionnaire.  To apply by fax; instructions are on the job announcements.  You may indicate up to five locations where you would like to work.  The Brooklyn location is Fort Hamilton and there are other sites throughout NYS.

The State of the District Address  Please join us for our Annual State of the District Address on Thursday, April 12th, 2011 from 6:00 P.M. - 8:30 P.M at P.S. 28K Warren Prep Acadamy located at 1001 Herkimer St. between Ralph & Howard Aves.
Advisory Board Meeting: Our next Advisory Board Meeting will be held Saturday, April 2nd, 2011, from  10:00am- 12:00pm at St. Anthony Baptist Church, 425 Utica Ave., corner of Utica Ave. and Empire Blvd.
Woman's Conference: The 6th Annual Woman's conference & Health Fair will take place on Saturday, April 30th at P.S. 5, 820 Hancock St., btwn. Ralph and Howard Avenues.  Registration begins at 8AM.  Workshops 9 AM-3 PM.
41st Council, Middle School, District Wide Spelling BEE.  The grand finale, District Wide Spelling Bee will be held in the third week of May at P.S./I.S. 323 located at 210 Chester St. Stay tuned, details will follow.
